Society, as reflected by the media, measures success by celebrity status, wealth or power. But women leaders see it in rather different terms, according to a new survey. In particular, success for them is about staying true to your values whatever you do, and being in a position to lead positive change.
Tomorrow’s Company, the London-based sustainability think-tank, recently surveyed around 200 people working in large organisations, chiefly in financial services, the legal profession, and utilities. It asked who was selected for promotion, whether the process was fair, and whether they believed their organisation to be meritocratic. The results were revealing….
Diversity is only as effective as the way we talk about it. The language we use can reflect long-held and often unconscious assumptions. We need to dust it off, examine it thoroughly and give it a makeover.
